Thread forming self-tapping screws for plastics
Self-tapping screws for plastics, formed or tapped when screwed into plastic material with pre-drilled or moulded pilot holes.
Standard and self-tapping screws for metals, such as Type A and AB, are not suitable for plastics due to the wider relief angle and shallower thread. They are used for metal sheets and thick plastic sheets like UPVC frames.
Thread forming self tapping screws
Plastic thread forming screws do not have a point and require a pilot hole. The threads deform the plastic material to flow around the threads. Therefore, the amount of overlap (thread engagement) and thread profile angle are critical.
